The Hypersensitive Response to Plant Viruses

نویسندگان

چکیده

Plant proteins with domains rich in leucine repeats play important roles detecting pathogens and triggering defense reactions, both at the cellular surface for pattern-triggered immunity cell to ensure effector-triggered immunity. As intracellular parasites, viruses are mostly detected intracellularly by a nucleotide binding site leucine-rich but receptor-like kinases repeats, known localize surface, have also been involved response viruses. In present review we report on progress that has achieved last decade role of these antiviral immunity, special focus our current understanding hypersensitive response.

A plant caspase-like protease activated during the hypersensitive response.

To test the hypothesis that caspase-like proteases exist and are critically involved in the implementation of programmed cell death (PCD) in plants, a search was undertaken for plant caspases activated during the N gene-mediated hypersensitive response (HR; a form of pathogen-induced PCD in plants) in tobacco plants infected with Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). For detection, characterization, and ...

Calcium-mediated apoptosis in a plant hypersensitive disease resistance response

BACKGROUND Avirulent pathogens elicit a battery of plant defenses, often accompanied by collapse of the challenged cells. In soybean cells, sustained accumulation of H2O2 from an oxidative burst cues localized host cell death. Such hypersensitive cell death appears to be an active process, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying cellular collapse. RESULTS We show that H2O2 stimula...

Plant Resistance Responses to Viruses

Plants have developed numerous approaches to resist infection by viruses. On the other hand, in many instances viruses have evolved to overcome these various resistance responses and barriers. The extent to which viruses can overcome some or all of these responses and barriers determines the extent to which they are able to colonize plants of a given genotype or species. Resistance against plan...

The hypersensitive response facilitates plant infection by the necrotrophic pathogen Botrytis cinerea

BACKGROUND Plants have evolved efficient mechanisms to combat pathogen attack. One of the earliest responses to attempted pathogen attack is the generation of oxidative burst that can trigger hypersensitive cell death. This is called the hypersensitive response (HR) and is considered to be a major element of plant disease resistance. The HR is thought to deprive the pathogens of a supply of foo...

Involvement of cathepsin B in the plant disease resistance hypersensitive response.

A diverse range of plant proteases are implicated in pathogen perception and in subsequent signalling and execution of disease resistance. We demonstrate, using protease inhibitors and virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS), that the plant papain cysteine protease cathepsin B is required for the disease resistance hypersensitive response (HR). VIGS of cathepsin B prevented programmed cell death (P...
